UNMASKED
UNMASKED is a narrative character-focused story discussing the struggles of acceptance through autistic masking and pretending to be someone you’re not. This is portrayed through the use of different art styles and the struggles of constantly changing between them. It follows Desmond as he hangs out with his friend Izzy, struggling to keep up this socially acceptable mask.
This was my individual capstone project with the only framework being to answer a research question with a ~90 second film. I made my question: How can the use of different art styles within a 2D short human character-focused animation represent the different personas we put up and the emotional toll of maintaining them?

Casual Crimes
Causal Crimes is a narrated animated documentary following the experiences of growing up in South Africa surrounded by constant crime. This is framed through an interrogation between me and my friend cutting between different notable times in their life relating to crimes.
This was an individual university project with the framework being to interview someone you knew about a real experience of theirs in 45 seconds. My interviewee didn't want to be named but credit to them for agreeing to let me use their interview, voice and stories for this project.

Hisbis
Hisbis is a narrative short film following a creature trying to capture a fly and failing.
This was a group univerity project where we had to create a ~20 second 3D narative animation with a soft bodied quadrupeded animal interacting with the enviroment.
My group consistsed of 3 members: Me, Jessica Metclafe and Catherine Halim. We as a group came up with the premise and design of the creature. I created the 2D orthagraphic of the design, 3D layouts, made all the models and did the blocking and rough pass of the last 3 shots.
